IRONBAR STUDIOS was founded in 1992, starting out in a modified cellar rehearsal room in Darmstadt's Liebigstrasse (at that time called "Sesamstudio").
For 12 years, equipment and clientele expanded, so in 2004 a new location was found. In a kind of "fusion" with Lofthaus Studios (run by Mark Ruekert, Gyso Hilger, and Jan Weimann)—which were also located in the Liebigstrasse rooms—a much more comfortable studio was built on the Goebel factory site near the Darmstadt central station.
Now, Ironbar Studios resides in a four-room facility with natural light, covering about 139 square meters. The consistent sound insulation allows for 24/7 operation of the studio (if you want to... ;-)).
The technical equipment and room acoustics have been consistently optimized as well. By now, an extensive and professional setting is available that handles the daily routine of recording, yet can also fulfill the unusual wishes of a musician's mind. Combined with the long-time experience and musical understanding of music lover Lolo Bluemler, a massive "instrument" is created, ready to unfold its sound for bands and musicians of varied styles and genres.
This is underlined by the wide musical diversity of Ironbar Studios' customers.
LORENZ "LOLO" BLUEMLER played piano as a child, switched to drums at age 14, and by the late 80s had added the guitar to his repertoire.
His first major project was the guitar-pop band "The Sheets," formed in 1985. Although lesser-known today, The Sheets enjoyed some success at the time, reaching a high position in the Spex readers' poll and touring as support for "The Wedding Present." This period also marked his first contact with the recording world via sessions at Hotline Studios in Frankfurt.
After The Sheets split, Lolo entered a very active period, playing in up to five bands at once. This included the nationally established acts Ska Trek and Tieflader (the latter featuring Jörn E. Wuttke of Alter Ego and Sensorama). In 1992, he graduated as an audio engineer from the SAE Institute in Frankfurt. Since launching Ironbar Studios, Lolo's life has been dedicated to music.
Today, Lolo is involved with Ska Trek, The Databreak, Woog Riots, and the occasional DA City Dub Dudes. From time to time, he also DJ's, spinning dub, early reggae, and indie music.
